The Shimmies
Artist Statement / Bio
Forged in the fires of Mordor in the summer of ’06, The Shimmies consist of Sean and Jimmy Galloway on vocals and guitar, Stephen Galloway on bass, and the brothers’ close friend and confidant Jack Gingerich on drums. Their smooth brand of soulful R ‘n’ B is a blend of songwriters Sean and Jimmy’s dead honesty, heartfelt delivery, mint julep harmonies, a touch of social ineptitude, the general neurosis and anthropophobia shared by all the band members, smothered in a delicious syrup of pop sensibility. The fun-filled, hip jive conveyed by their introspective ballads of fragile insecurity and fear have allowed The Shimmies the opportunity to play in many venues throughout California from Club Spaceland and Mr. T’s Bowl in L.A., The Camp in Costa Mesa, Union Square and The Retox Lounge in San Francisco, to beloved local venues such as 1078 Art Gallery, Café Coda, The Towne Lounge, Nick’s Night Club, The Crux, and many more. They are currently in the final stages of mixing and mastering a collection of recordings for an album which will be released April 5th. Additionally, they are in the initial planning stages of a West Coast tour (collaborating with local band Red Giant) set to take place in early June.

"As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has—or ever will have—something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."
