Attention Home Recording Types!!
There are some crazy open source apps I've stumbled accross lately. After some minor probing, one could pick up the recording art obsession with out spending a dollar or cracking software. I found a sweet sound design app called
Gleetchlab 2.3. Must have a pretty fast mac, and must love sound design. If you have those two things you will fall in love with this simple yet very powerful cpu draining tool. Don't melt your computer!
It's not a plug in, it stands alone. There are no save functions but you can record your experiments.
Another doosy I stumbled on was Glitch, a VST for Windows. I've partitioned a part of my MacBook to run Vista so I've played with this one a bit. Also off the hook but I'm way more intrigued by Gleetch which can be applied to beat deconstruction but also seems strong for general ambience sound design. Glitch is for tearing down pattern sequences.
The future is bright. Thank you computer nerds in universities.
