writing fun
the CN&R annual 59 word story contest has begun. whether or not you submit is secondary because i've found that it's just fun (and as easy or as hard as you want to make it) to write these things. if you do want to enter, all the info is in this week's CN&R.
here's an example i wrote last night (first draft. only draft?)
Mr. O'Bryan lifted the tumbler, inhaling the fine aroma of an eighteen year scotch he'd yet to imbibe. He stopped to write, First impression, Aroma: sharp, oaky. cherry blossoms? He exhaled deeply and inhaled again, this time sipping. Second impression: longing, bitterness, heated arguments. He lifted the glass the third and final time, and Mr. O'Bryan began to cry.

"There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there, you'll be free if you truly wish to be."
