The Makai

Preston and I went to The Makai show at Monstros last night.

La Fin Du Monde was first, and they're good. It's an interesting sound-scape that builds toward epic crescendos interspersed with drops back to simple, mellow melodic arrangements.

My only discrepancy was that they didn't ever hit the peak crescendo you are led to believe they are going to hit.

At crucial moments they back off from the moment where you think your ears are going to explode in musical epiphany and bliss. Other than that, good stuff.

The second band sucked.

Then, The Makai came on. They fucking ripped it. No one in the audience could move for a few minutes. Dumb struck with deafening awesomeness fucking their ears apart.

Then they got better. Two audience members near the front had aneurysms, and one more ruptured his liver.

The beer was flowing and the hair was flying. There were guitars, OH let me tell you of the guitars. They fucking wailed.

Everything about their performance made me want to detroy small countries filled with idiots in a symphony of absolute raging carnage. If you don't like metal, fuck you. It should be in the Constitution that everyone has to see The Makai, and then rip their own faces off. Fucking Metal.
