legal tender used to be redeemable in gold and it's now it's redeemable for jack shit, and in this respect Max's money is no different; he just has to get people to use it. The idea is for people like you and I to take Max's VMU's (viral monetary unit) and use them in the stead of the currently accepted form of currency. Once a business accepts a VMU, they send it back to Max in a S.A.S.E. (self addressed stamped envelope) and Max will return it to them containing three times the value of the initial VMU. I was confused at first too, but it starts to make sense the more you think about it. Between forty and fifty thousand notes were printed, and about sixty percent is in the lowest denomination of 100 VMU's. The 100 is intended for coffee and beer, while the 500 is used for food. All together it took over five thousand sheets of 11x17 paper printed off-set on each side and then serialized and stamped. While this project is ripe for satire max says this is not a political statement, just a get-rich scheme.
