How about a little sunshine?
I feel like the world is coming to a steady end. I know how pessimistic that sounds--but everything in the news is just so. We are experiencing a mass extinction. Our economy is going down the drain. There are more human slaves now than at any other time in history. The polar ice caps are melting, and the sea levels are rising. The age expectancy is lowering in many parts of the U.S., especially among women. Tibetans and several countries in Africa are undergoing genocides.
"Just last week, a new study suggested that sea levels could rise by up to one-and-a-half metres by the end of this century, with catastrophic impacts for low-lying countries.
This is more than three times as high as the most pessimistic projections of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). "
I hate to be so negative, but this realization came to me in the car coming back from Oakland. We were listening to NPR and I just got really sad. I'm not sure I want to have children--I'm not sure it's wise if any of us do. It would be cruel to bring about people to live in one of the most dangerous times in history.
There are some good things going on. I also realized pretty much the only thing that makes me glad to live in this time period are things such as: acne medication, toothpaste, braces, and daily showers. Essentially--hygeine.
It can be noted that I have been experiencing an incredibly amount of emotional turmoil and drama lately--seriously--but I am viewing the state of the world as objectively as possible.

"Art flourishes where there is a sense of adventure, a sense of nothing having been done before, of complete freedom to experiment; but when caution comes in you get repetition, and repetition is the death of art."
