The Chico Art Center is having it's 2007 Open Studios Art Tour to be held on October 6th and 7th. The optional Bonus Weekend will be on the following weekend, October 13th and 14th. New this year is a third weekend, October 20th and 21st, specifically for artists in Oroville. The preview reception will be held at the Chico Art Center, Friday, September 28. (children free with paid adult)

Description:

The Butte Folk Music Society sponsors a free acoustic
jam on the First Saturday of each month. We meet from
2 to 5 p.m. at the Upper Crust Bakery on 130 Main St. in downtown Chico. Everyone is encouraged to play, sing or listen. We often play requested songs or tunes.

This is not a community art event, but it is a world art event for peace that we can all contribute to. Yoko Ono is unveiling her latest piece the "Imagine Peace Tower" in Iceland on October 9th--what would have been John Lennon's 67th birthday. The Arc’s “3rd Street Gallery” First Open House

The Arc’s new store “3rd Street Gallery” located between Main & Wall Street is full of beautiful antiques, vintage piece, fine furniture, art glass, photography and unique art pieces from local artists. Featuring pieces by Dave Smallhouse, Paul Crosby, Dean Carrier and Orene Owens.

“We are very excited about being in the heart of downtown Chico”, explains Charlie Williams, store manager, ”We have lots of unique vintage items plus it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to show our support of our community’s creative art scene. We want to invite everyone to the Open House on Oct 20th. It'll be lots of fun! We’re going to have food, music, a drawing for one of our beautiful pieces and we'll have some of the local artists here who have contributed to our gallery, too."

Open to artists 18 or older residing in the US, and all media except film, video, installation, and performance. Entry deadline: September 20. Entry fee: $25 for two works, $10 each additional entry. Juror: David Gentry. $1,500 in cash awards.
