relish?

Submitted by Weston on May 14, 2008, 9:44am. |

"Better to waste within than to waste without", that is what my father always used to tell me when I couldn't finish a meal. So I would stuff all that shit down my throat and just stomach it. But I always wondered what exactly that quote meant. Now I find myself not wanting to stomach anything. At my first tastebud's disapproval, I proudly remove bite after worthless bite from my mouth. As if I could tell the difference between poison and cure, like water witching with the tip of my tongue to sift through the mold and rot. But no matter your dowsing skillset, you will always swallow down venom. It might just be a drop, it might happen monthly, even weekly, it just comes with the territory. Just stomach it, it's just relish.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Ty Gorton and friends for successfully setting up a new Gallery called "The Space" at CN&R. That is what we like to see, new galleries popping up with new talent and momentum. SO stop by The Space and check out Matt Goularts work yo.

A friend just wrote this minutes ago:

I'm writing robo-magic spells to fill metallic silver boxes. Please, take one. Just open the large jar floating out on the open water. There's a man inside. He'll tell you everything you need to know.

Oe loda loda, dee ha mey.

hold on

hold her

make sense of it

taste it

pushing in

like red motor

pushing

without a sound

then all about you

everything in you

he tries to hold on

he tries to see you

in rhythm

in patterns

inside again

without a sound

constantly moving

in patterns

returning to it

like a firestarter

start - I'm one step closer.

What ever happened to him?

I know I was about 5, maybe 6. That memory -

The back screen door cracked, leading out to the garden where the opossum hid in the blackberry bush waiting to scratch at my ankles. Starring at that bush. Then those two huge rats ran across the kitchen floor, sluggish as if they were sick. My mother on the kitchen counter yelling for me to join her.

Got my Burning Man ticket today. The prices are already up to $250, so get yours quick. I haven't been in years and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a bit curious who else from Commonpath is going. Are you?

Alive at 27

So far my 27th year on this planet has been quite the challenge. From what I have heard, between the ages 27 and 30 people go through their Saturn Returns. This period is generally "marked by time, challenge, fear, doubt, confusion, difficulty, seriousness, heaviness, and hard lessons, among other more positive things such as structure, significance, accomplishment, reflection, power, prestige, maturity, and order", to quote wikipedia.

hold that thought

I really appreciate everyone on this site. It is encouraging to find that some of us deny the advertising sales soup that plagues almost all of the internet, and invest in something that challenges it. I think it can be hard to know the value of independent communities if we are still into advertising culture. By this I mean, still into the mass collecting of personal info and the sales of that info to advertisers who basically deconstruct our deep personal connections with each other by leveraging and emphasizing human soft spots like sex addiction, pride, envy, and power within visual advertising.

I broke a few promises on my trip so I apologize. Lets just say that sometimes the water can be quite rough and that you always need friends around. I'm glad to be back in Chico and it looks like everyone has been doing well. Started a new song today, I think it will be called "beware of dog" but it could totally change. Hey check out the CP Upcoming Events! There seems to be more and more grand opportunities for us every week.
